2. Larry Fitzgerald

Fitz rocks.  That’s about all you need to say about Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald.  Given a contract extension in the offseason to keep him around three more seasons, Fitzgerald thanked the Cardinals and their fans by providing one of his best seasons of his 12-year career.

Fitz set a career-high in receptions with 109.  His previous high was 104, way back in 2005.  He also had 1,215 yards receiving and nine touchdowns.  A lot of those touchdowns came earlier in the season.  However he scored a touchdown in the season-finale against the Seattle Seahawks to remind us all he is still around.

Many fans had given up on Fitz in 2014 and wanted him traded while he still had value.  Of course I was in the camp of keeping him.  When Fitz got his new contract many thought he was overpaid.  While I agreed he was likely overpaid at the time, it was more of a gesture to him for all he had done for the team on the field and the community off the field.

Clearly though he earned every penny he was given this season.  The fact that he did what he did all the while fighting for targets with several other very good receivers is a testament to his work ethic.  I don’t even want to know where the Cardinals would have ended up without his services this season.
