Paxton Lynch – QB
Memphis – Redshirt Junior
6-6, 230 Pounds
Est draft position: Top-25
296 CMP, 443 ATT, 3776 yards, 66.8 CMP%, 28 touchdowns, 4 interceptions

One of the biggest risers on most NFL teams boards, and with the draft nearing we can’t distinguish the top quarterbacks from the him. He possesses the best size, and seemed unbeatable in a chess match. The fact remains, he really was fun to watch this season. Memphis doesn’t really possess many top QB’s, but Paxton might be the quarterback of the future.

Paxton did have his flaws, and sometimes it seemed smart for him to stay in school one more year of his eligibility. He had a great arm throwing mostly intermediate throws, and
seemed to really put the dart on the throw when it was within 15-20 yards. All evaporators saw his size and thought “this young man should sling with ease, at least 30-60 yards”, yet he could that, it wasn’t very accurate. Another problem was the level of competition, as Memphis only played two top-25 teams, Ole Miss and Auburn.

Now, Paxton did beat Ole Miss, that’s when I started to take notice of his tremendous ability to put corners on wheels, but it’s the latter of the games he played that frightens me when evaluating Lynch. Auburn shut him down, he threw for a very paltry 106 yards, 43.2 CMP%, and had a pick. There is no way that Bruce Arians doesn’t like Paxton though, but Bruce also has to remember what happened to Logan Thomas.
