Carson Wentz – QB
North Dakota State – Senior
6-5, 233 Pounds
Est draft selection: Top-10
130 CMP, 208 ATT, 1651 yards, 62.5 CMP%, 17 touchdowns, 4 interceptions

For once, the small school guy has a chance at the top spot, as for the quarterback position. Carson Wentz, a big man from Bismarck, not far from North Dakota State, has really elevated his play. While at the Senior Bowl, I keep seeing a resemblance to the great Jim Kelly, not because of stature, but because of his tremendous work ethic. He goes to work with a hard hat, and makes himself fight through the aches and pains.

While I am enthused of his tremendous work ethic, Wentz has become something of an oddity. He makes errand throws on the run, some that wouldn’t be acceptable in play-action. For a big boy coming off of a surgery, I feel he has shown resilience, but he will not be a starter in the beginning of the season. Maybe it’s a sign, development is what is needed to help Wentz overcome the odds, and he could certainly become the quarterback of the future.

He has all the tools to build around the Cardinals, there are a lot of teams who will be looking at Wentz (Browns, Cowboys, 49ers, Bears, Eagles, Rams, Bills, Jets, Texans), but I just have the feeling that Arizona is the best place for him. The Cardinals would find their perfect match at quarterback as a replacement for Carson Palmer.
