Arizona Cardinals: 3 players who could be waived
By Scott Allen
Andre Ellington
The Cardinals seem to be using the former starting running back less and less. Given his versatility, that is a little shocking despite the emergence of David Johnson.
Quite simply though, the Cardinals don’t need him as long as they have a healthy David Johnson and Chris Johnson. The only time Ellington touched the ball on Sunday was during two kickoff returns.
Ellington was not targeted on offense. He went without a carry. Now, some of the game flow dictated that but the fact is Ellington isn’t getting even one-fifth of the touches he was getting in the past.
The Cardinals likely won’t just part with him. Ellington is the one guy on this list that should bring some value in return via trade. However if they can’t find a suitable deal, maybe they do just waive him? Out of these three players though, his waiver is the most doubtful.
When you have as many weapons as the Cardinals eompoy, it is hard to find everyone the ball. With the way the Cardinals played on Sunday however it is interesting that Ellington never saw a carry or reception.
