Obi Melifonwu has a size and speed combination that NFL teams dream of

The secondary of the Cardinals is in a state of flux this off-season. Free agency threatens to force some big changes, and the unit could have a whole new look in 2017. If they elect to bring in a rookie safety, Obi Melifonwu could be a terrific choice in the middle rounds.

Melifonwu is a pure athlete. At 6’4″ and 219 pounds, he brings an unmatched combination of size and ability. He also has loads of experience as a four-year starter, which helps him in the eyes of scouts. He’s a hard hitter who also has the ability to cover down the field.

Like Douglas, Melifonwu can be too aggressive at times, and could be susceptible to big plays if left one on one. He also could miss some tackles while trying to make the devastating hit.

The Arizona Cardinals could be in dire need of some fresh blood in the secondary once the draft gets here. Melifonwu has loads of potential, and will probably test extremely well. He puts together size and athleticism as well as any player in the entire draft, and if he gets anywhere near his full potential, he could be the steal of the draft on day two.
