Nathan Peterman could be the quarterback of the future for the Cardinals

The 2017 season was looking really bleak early in the off-season, with Carson Palmer unsure if he’d return. Once he declared his intentions to return, there was an audible sigh of relief from the city of Phoenix. However, there are still worries about what happens after the coming season.

Palmer is coming off a down season, but is still the clear best option for now. However, this is most likely his final season, and there’s no viable option to replace him on the roster. It’s almost a certainty that the Cardinals will target a quarterback in this class. Nathan Peterman would be a good third round option.

Head coach Bruce Arians has generally preferred quarterbacks with good size and big arms, but the Cardinals haven’t managed to win much with this philosophy. Going for a more cerebral passer might be a smart decision. Peterman doesn’t have a cannon for an arm, but he plays intelligently and efficiently.
