Justin Bethel is being counted on to lock down the second cornerback spot this season

Like the receiver position, much has been made of the cornerback position for the Cardinals this offseason. They elected not to draft, or sign, another corner, instead counting on the players already on the team. Justin Bethel is the leading candidate.

In the past, Bethel has struggled in coverage. He’s been a special teams standout, but unable to make any impact on defense. Now, the coaches are hopeful that he can finally become a quality cornerback. They’ve been happy with his progress so far.

The Bears aren’t exactly the best test of his abilities, but it could be a chance for Bethel to play well and build his confidence. The only other real option is veteran Tramon Williams, who was signed recently. If he does struggle against the Bears, he might find himself back to being relegated to special teams.
