As many as six or seven quarterbacks could be drafted in the first round, including by the Arizona Cardinals

This year’s draft if chalk full of talent at quarterback.  That leaves most of us still guessing about how the first round especially will unfold.  The Arizona Cardinals are right in the mix but still very unpredictable.

Sure, we’ve all done a number of mock drafts.  Most of us would love for the Cardinals to draft a quarterback, but at what expense?

The Cardinals could stay put and hope for the best at number 15 in the first round.  They could move up to get the guy they want, much like what was done to them last season.

They could also drop down in order to gain more picks.  Although that scenario is more likely than moving up, right now I don’t see it happening.

Even as draft day moves closer over the next four days, we still really won’t know what is going on in the war room at Cardinals headquarters until the pick is actually made.  The Cardinals probably don’t even have a clue how this will play out.

One thing is for sure, general manager Steve Keim and company do have a plan.  Some think Keim doesn’t plan based on some previous signings.  However he has a plan.

The big board is there.  They know who they want.  It will just be a matter of will he be there at 15 or do they need to go up and get him if they want him bad enough?

The popular sentiment still seems to go after a quarterback.  The Cardinals looked at Baker Mayfield the other day.  They’ve seen them all though.

Every other team has seen them all as well.  So who knows what happens.  The Cardinals could also pry receiver Calvin Ridley from Alabama.  If they don’t grab a quarterback, he should be the guy.
