Arizona Cardinals: Halfway to a new start
By Scott Allen
The Arizona Cardinals reminded us of a small fact on Sunday that has us looking forward to the new season
Remember December 31, 2017? It was the final game of the 2017 regular season for the Arizona Cardinals. It was the last day of the Bruce Arians era.
The Cardinals beat the Seattle Seahawks in Seattle for the fourth time in five years, 26-24, sending the Cardinals to the only 8-8 record in the NFL for the season. That day was 127 days ago.
The 2018 regular season starts 127 days from now. We have hit the halfway mark between the two seasons and the two much different teams that will be on the field.
In some ways, it seems like a lifetime ago. In other ways, it is hard to believe it has been just 127 days since the last time we saw BA lead the Cardinals.
In 127 days we will see a new 4-3 defense. We will have a new head coach in Steve Wilks leading the team onto the field. We will also see a new starting quarterback in Sam Bradford.
There has been a lot of work to get to this point but a lot more to do between now and September 9th when the Cardinals open up the season against the Washington Redskins at home. Rookie camp starts this week in Tempe.
The Cardinals made additions to the roster last week to get to the allowed 90 men on the preseason roster. After this week’s camp then OTA’s will get started.
Summer temperatures have arrived which can make it feel like a long long time until football gets here. May will fly by and it will be June before you know it.
Next: Arizona Cardinals still have holes to fill
That will be the difficult stretch, going from the end of minicamp in June until the start of training camp in July. Once training camp starts, then we will all really start to get the itch for September.
