Arizona Cardinals: 5 Practice squad possibilities

Elijhaa Penny

This cut was a bit of surprise on Saturday. Penny has played well for the Cardinals in the regular season and in the preseason.

He seemed to become a victim of a numbers game. He was officially listed as a fullback this season. That may have hurt his chances with Derrick Coleman winning that job in Arizona for now.

Penny though is a guy the Cardinals can count on to get the job done should his number be called. He’s a hard runner. If the Cardinals aren’t able to claim him, someone will.

Penny was on the 53-man roster in 2018 but is eligible for the squad. I have a suspicion someone is going to claim him. If not, would he want to come back in this capacity or hold out for another job.

Work is work in the NFL though. Penny isn’t going to spend 2018 teamless. Let’s just hope the Cardinals are able to bring him back in this capacity.
