Derrick Coleman (fullback)

Coleman will be the teams lone fullback on the 53-man roster.  He comes to Arizona to help resurrect a position that has been vacant on the Cardinals roster since 2012.

Former head coach Bruce Arians offense didn’t have fullbacks in it.  Steve Wilks’ offense does carry a fullback.

The preseason roster had a couple of fullbacks, the other one was Elijhaa Penny.  Penny was released on Saturday but was re-signed on Sunday to the Cardinals practice squad.

If something happens to Coleman, Penny will be the guy here.  For now, Coleman will carry the load at the position.

It will be interesting to see how the Cardinals use their fullback.  Imagine this will be a position used traditionally like other teams do, when short yardage is needed.

The Cardinals used their running backs in short goal line situations in the preseason.  I would look more of Coleman in those situations as well in the regular season.
