Devin Funchess

His size is certainly intriguing at 6’4.  Over the last few seasons he has gained a rapport with Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton.

Now he hits the free agent market and would be looking at an unknown situation if he returned to Carolina in 2019.  It has been suggested that Newton could miss the entire 2019 season to rest his injured shoulder.

Funchess’ numbers aren’t mind blowing, but like Humphires, could be a value-added receiver to the Cardinals roster.  He caught just 44 passes in 2018 for 549-yards and four touchdowns.

The season before in 2017 was by far his best year with 63 receptions for 840-yards and eight touchdowns.  That is the kind of production the Cardinals would be looking for and need out of him.

It would seem that the Panthers do not want him back.  He sat out the last month of the season in 2018.  A fresh start with a young quarterback in Arizona could be very beneficial to both parties.
