Round 3, pick 1 – (65th overall) – Te’von Coney, ILB, Notre Dame

There is a good chance Coney is gone by the time this pick comes around.  However linebacker is another area of need for the Cardinals and he is the best available at this point of the draft.

Coney put up decent numbers in Notre Dame’s run for the National Championship in 2018.  He had a total of 128 tackles.  Of those tackles, 9.5 went for a loss.  He also had four sacks.

He also recovered a fumble and had one interception last season.  In the National Semifinal against Clemson, he had a season-high 16 tackles with 0.5 sacks.

A couple of other Irishmen could be possible here if Coney isn’t available.  Defensive lineman Jerry Tillery and cornerback Justin Love are also possible targets for the Cardinals at number 65.

Despite the need to find another cornerback opposite Patrick Peterson, linebacker seems smarter here.  Arguably linebackers was the weakest area of the Cardinals defense last season.
