#53 Kwamie Lassiter

Lassiter played for the Cardinals for eight seasons from 1995-2002.  He played 10 years in the NFL.

He came to the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent.  He didn’t have great numbers in the beginning but certainly it can be argued 1998 was his coming out party.

He had eight interceptions in that ’98 season.  Four of those interceptions took place in the Cardinals playoff-clinching game against the San Diego Chargers in the season finale.

His four interceptions helped the Cardinals to their first-ever playoff berth in Arizona, defeating the Chargers 16-13.  His eight interceptions that season were good for second in the NFL. He later had nine interceptions in 2001, which was tired for third that season.

Of Lassiter’s 25 career-interceptions,  24 were with the Cardinals.  He had 521 of his 588 career-tackles with the Cardinals as well.

He continued to be a great ambassador for not only the Cardinals but for the NFL post-career.  He was the president of the NFL Alumni chapter in Arizona until his untimely death early this year.
