Kyler Murray

Should we be surprised by Murray’s progress so far?  In some cases yes, mostly because we didn’t know what to expect coming in.

There certainly is still a lot to be learned about how Murray will do.  We will likely not find a lot out in preseason games since as coach Kliff Kingsbury has said, the offense will be vanilla in preseason as expected, but may need to wait until September to really find out what he can do.

However by many accounts, he is having a great camp so far.  People have been impressed by his field presence and the way he seems to command the offense.

Sure, he’s thrown some picks in practice but no one is perfect.  He has already shown off his strong arm, pocket presence, and the ability to scramble when the pocket collapses.

One particular play that was impressive in practice this past weekend was Murray scrambling to his right and then throwing deep down field while on the run.  His mind is always thinking and having the ability to see open receivers downfield while escaping pressure is exactly what kind of quarterback the Cardinals need.
