#49 Dale Meinert

Meinert played his entire 10-year career with the Cardinals in Chicago and St. Louis.  He was with the organization from 1958-1967.

He had three Pro Bowl seasons with the Cardinals in St. Louis.  He went to the Pro Bowl in 1963, 1965, and in ’67.

He had nine interceptions in his career, with a career-high three in 1960.  The middle linebacker returned one of those interceptions for a touchdown in 1964.

He received a number of accolades in that ’64 season.  He was named to the All-Pro 1st Team that season by the Newspaper Enterprise Association.  He also made the new York Daily News and UPI All-Pro Second Teams that season.

He also made Sporting News’ All Pro 1st Team in ’67.  With a Pro Bowl appearance and Sporting News recognition that season, he left his football career on very high note.

Meinert unfortunately passed in 2004.  He will always be remembered for being one of the best middle defensemen of the 1960’s for the team.
