Zane Gonzalez

The one guy that should probably have competition in camp, doesn’t.  Gonzalez has struggled by a number of accounts this camp.  He struggled in the Red-White practice last Saturday.

However unlike punter Andy Lee, the Cardinals felt like Gonzalez was good to go without any camp competition.  Even after his struggles, there is still no competition for him.

Then again, it is just practice…until Thursday night.  Then it will be live game situations.  He will need to make the best of it and quick.

Any hints of trouble in the kicking game against the Chargers could mean competition in camp by Saturday’s practice. Then it could get real interesting.

Gonzalez had a strong finish to the 2018 season.  He is going to need to step it up however in the preseason games in order to make it to September 8th.

There are a number of unemployed kickers just waiting for their next opportunity.  Let’s hope Gonzalez shines on Thursday and beyond.
