Zane Gonzalez

This was one guy earlier this week we advised to watch out for.  Well, he didn’t get much of an opportunity on Thursday but made the most of those that he did get.

Gonzalez hit both extra points and absolutely drilled a 55-yard field goal right down the middle, splitting the uprights.  For a guy that struggled in the Red and White Practice just five days ago, missing three rather easy field goals, Gonzalez really stepped up against the Chargers.

Once he showed his struggles, some wondered, including yours truly, as to why he didn’t have any competition in camp.  Now one kick won’t make or break it for him but it certainly didn’t hurt.

It was probably the best kick we’ve witnessed since he came to the Cardinals in late 2018.  That sentiment was echoed on social media during the game.

He will have to continue to hit balls that well but for now, he is the only kicker that will be on this camp roster.  As long as all the kicks look like Thursday night’s, bring it on.
