Special Teams

This unit has had moments of lapse this season.  However for the most part they have been a solid group.

Kicker Zane Gonzalez has been fantastic.  He did miss an extra point last week, the first of the season.  He’s 26-29 on field goals this season.

Then there is punter Andy Lee.  He too has had a nice season, despite missing time with a hip flexor injury.  Ryan Winslow substituted for him in his absence.

The kick return team has been fairly good.  The punt return team not so much.  Pharoh Cooper has been a nice addition to the group not only as a returner but he has been good at receiver as well.

One might argue both Gonzalez and Lee have been the MVP’s of this team, keeping them in games and helping with field position. Gonzalez has scored 98 points so far this season.

Next. Future looks bright for Cardinals offense. dark

The kick and punt coverage teams have also been fun to watch, particularly with Budda Baker.  Baker too has contributed not only on special teams but has really played well on defense over the past month.  Grade: A-
