Patrick Peterson

He’s been fairly absent in the defensive secondary since his return to the lineup following his 6-game suspension to start the 2019 season.  He had a nice sack in the first game back against the Giants and got his first interception of the season the following week against the New Orleans Saints.

Since then, his play has been pretty bad.  He looked lost and showed absolutely no effort in the loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Halloween.  He hasn’t looked like he’s wanted to give much effort since then either.

However on Sunday, something must have changed.  He was charged with covering Browns receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and he did a number on him.

Peterson got a first quarter interception in the end zone of Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield.  He almost got a second one but his toe stepped out of bounds in the end zone.  In all he ended the afternoon with 3 passes defensed.

He too was given a game ball by Kingsbury after the game.  He deserved it.  However was it a case of too little too late?

Only time will tell if this moved the marker on his future status in Arizona or not.  It was nice to watch though, like it was the Patrick Peterson of old.
