3. The impact of DeAndre Hopkins

Who else was completely blindsided by this move in April? At the time, it seemed like the Cardinals were just trying to shed David Johnson’s contract. By some stroke of luck (or just complete incompetency by Bill O’Brien) the Cardinals were able to do so, and at the same time bring in arguably the best receiver in the NFL. Well done, Steve Keim.

D-Hop was fantastic for Houston his first 7 years in the league. 8,692 receiving yards on 632 catches, 54 of them being touchdowns. What a treat it is for Cardinal fans as Larry Fitzgerald’s career winds down, to add another Hall of Fame talent with plenty of productive years ahead of him. Not to mention a security blanket like this is such a huge weapon for a young quarterback like Kyler Murray.

It’ll be interesting to see how defenses try to slow down the Cardinals offense with this addition. If teams decide to double up Hopkins, that opens up a whole side of the field for the other wide receivers on the field. Kingsbury truly has everything he needs now in terms of personnel to unleash the Air Raid offense he envisioned before last season.
