Raising Zona: Tight ends have always had a field day against the Arizona Cardinals for as long as I can remember. With Cooper Kupp on the COVID-19 list, will Higbee or Everett have the better day?

Ramblin’ Fan:

You know, I think that the Cardinals might be able to limit the tight ends this week against the Rams. Here’s why – Tyler Higbee is nursing an elbow injury and Gerald Everett isn’t really a vertical threat. The Cardinals recently have introduced a personnel package that has helped the second level with tight ends (the 40’s, I’ve heard them referred to) where they have a lot of athletic linebacker types playing zone across the front.

The Rams tight ends are possession tight ends, they make their living catching passes underneath in the flats and trying to pick up yardage after the catch. With Wolford in the game, I’d imagine that the Rams will stick to this exclusively. As long as Arizona makes the tackles that they are supposed to, they should keep the Rams tight ends in check.
