Chris Carson

I’ve mentioned Chris Carson as a potential player the Cardinals could end up pursuing in the past. As with Everett, signing Carson strengthens the Cardinals while it would simultaneously weaken a division rival in the Seattle Seahawks.

Also, with the presence of Chase Edmonds, Carson could fare as a better complement to Edmonds than Kenyan Drake. He’s a clear upgrade over Drake, who struggled often in 2020 apart from his 10 rushing touchdowns. But if you kept track, most of his touchdowns came near the goal line.

Carson has been injury-prone, so that’s the one downer. If he can stay healthy throughout a sixteen-game slate, it would give the Cardinals an explosive one-two punch.

If Carson re-signs with Seattle or goes elsewhere, the Cardinals still have a few solid options. Mike Davis would be another good fit. And the Cardinals saw first-hand back in 2020 of what Davis can do to a defense when part of a committee.

James Conner is another good name. Though not as effective as Carson or Davis, he has proven throughout his first four seasons to be a solid role player at running back.
