Le’Veon Bell – RB

2020 Teams: Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets

With the additions of A.J. Green and J.J. Watt this offseason, the Cardinals have proven that they’re not going to shy away from signing players that could be near the end of their NFL careers.

Even though he’s still just 29-years-old, it seems safe to say the best performances of Le’Veon Bell’s time in the league are in the past. But Bell’s experience in the NFL is something that Arizona could benefit from.

Currently, the Cardinals have six running backs on their roster. Of these six backs, five are 26-years-old or younger. The oldest in the group is Khalfani Muhammad at 27-years-old, but he’s never appeared in a regular-season game since entering the league in 2017.

With Bell, Arizona would not only be adding some veteran leadership to their running back room, but he could also make a difference out on the field as well. His 2020 season went a bit sideways, but he’s only two years removed from finishing the 2019 campaign with 1,250 total yards from scrimmage when he was with the New York Jets.

Bell also has a connection to the Cardinals’ offensive backfield already in James Conner. The two were teammates in 2017 with the Pittsburgh Steelers and they’ve also spent time training together during the last few offseasons.

Arizona seems pretty set with the top two spots on their running back depth chart with Conner and Chase Edmunds. The No. 3 running back spot is more of a question mark and if he’s affordable, Bell could be someone to take that role for the Cardinals next season.
