James Conner – RB

James Conner came to the Cardinals via free agency this year on an insanely cheap deal. The one-year deal makes 2021 the ultimate “make or break” season for Conner.

Conner had some success with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he has never played a full 16-game season, let alone 17 matchups in a season.

Does Conner have enough in the tank to last a full season? Only the owl from the Tootsie Roll Pop commercials knows.

If Arizona’s offense is anything like last year’s version, they won’t favor the run due to the passing nature of the ‘Air Raid’ offense that Kliff Kingsbury runs. It’s going to be up to Kingsbury and run game coordinator Sean Kugler to get the most out of the four-year veteran.

Even if (and hopefully not) Conner misses time during the 2021 season, the team would probably bring him back just to see if he truly can do anything while healthy. They have given multiple chances to players like him over the years, and one of them will appear later on in this list.
