Chase Edmonds – RB

Chase Edmonds was selected by the Cardinals in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL draft. Since that time, Edmonds has been given multiple times to carry the team and earn the starting spot.

He was heading towards that role going into 2019, after only scoring two touchdowns his rookie year in an upset win on the road against the Green Bay Packers that resulted in Mike McCarthy being fired.

Edmonds got hurt in the 2019 season and the team traded for Kenyan Drake, who exploded for 800 yards in eight games, giving Arizona some hope that they’d found their running back of the future. We know by now that Drake is with the Las Vegas Raiders and Edmonds is feeling the pressure.

By admitting it’s “now or never” for him to win the starting job, he knows it’s crunch time. Other than the three-touchdown game against the New York Giants in 2019, the 2018 matchup with Green Bay, and his performance in the overtime win against the Seattle Seahawks last season, what has he really done for this team?

The answer is not much besides a 200-yard improvement from his rookie year. If it wasn’t for our next candidate, he’d be the second-most at risk of not being on Arizona’s roster in 2022.
