Dre Kirkpatrick – CB

Arizona entered the 2021 offseason with an uncertain situation at the cornerback position. Eight-time Pro Bowler Patrick Peterson jumped shipped for the Minnesota Vikings back in March. Since then, free agents Malcolm Butler and Darqueze Dennard were signed, and a pair of youngsters (Marco Wilson, Tay Gowan) were drafted in late April.

One cover guy who was with the Cards last season but has not been asked back is Dre Kirkpatrick. The 31-year-old struggled at times with “Big Red”, but his overall numbers were quite respectable. In 14 appearances (11 starts), Kirkpatrick was credited with 56 tackles, three interceptions, and seven passes defensed.

There’s been some talk that the Cardinals could be looking another veteran corner to the mix in the coming weeks. Perhaps Kirkpatrick’s 113 games of pro experience, and knowledge of coordinator Vance Joseph’s defense, will convince Keim to give him a call.
