Maxx Williams’ departure left a gap until Zach Ertz arrived

Maxx Williams was having a career season until he got hurt in the Week 2 game against the Minnesota Vikings. The mostly-blocking tight end suddenly burst out in the passing game and had a good bunch of yards in the first half.

But after that, the Cardinals struggled to maintain the edge on rushing plays and have someone who could be used as a good blocker on the edge. Newcome Trey McBride is the DNA’d version of Ertz and Williams, and McBride hopes to make an impact this year.

Williams is also the offensive version of Dennis Gardeck. Meaning he’s a fan favorite who is loved by his teammates. Williams’ leadership will help the team when they need it most in the 2022 season.
