Maxx Williams, TE
While Williams may easily fall back into a blocking role now that the Arizona Cardinals have drafted Trey McBride, it is the reason I added him to the list. Many NFL fan bases suffer from a fallacy that they judge a player’s production by their statistics.
For Williams, a blocking-first tight end who can snag a few receptions in a pinch, you would need to go to a place like Pro Football Focus for a more accurate grade on how he is playing. Last season, Williams was on his way to enjoying a career year on the receiving end when a knee injury ended his 2021 campaign prematurely.
In 2022, Williams may give way to McBride if the latter enjoys a good camp. And if that occurs, don’t write off Williams. As a blocker, he will still be a major contributor in the running game and even in some passing situations.
