We’ve flirted with the idea of the Cardinals trading down from the No. 3 overall pick for quite some time now, but it seems as if the initial thought actually has the potential to become a reality quite soon.

NFL Draft expert and analyst Todd McShay believes that it is not a secret that the Cardinals will entertain offers for their top pick.

“AZ would like to move back, that’s real. There’s not an OT worthwhile at 3 this yr.” — Todd McShay

McShay proceeded to link the Cardinals and Cowboys in a trade package that included that pick, one that would help Dallas land a pass rusher of its choice.

The pass rusher in mind for Jerry Jones and company is David Bailey out of Texas Tech, who tested exceptionally well at the NFL combine last February. In his senior season, he posted 14.5 sacks and 52 total tackles. A key contributor to the Red Raiders’ historic season that saw them clinch a first-round bye and an Orange Bowl appearance in the College Football Playoff.

If these rumors are what they are made out to be, the Cardinals can put themselves in an excellent position to net a first-round pick. A top-three selection they currently have does not come cheap, and it is safe to say they will have a ton of leverage in negotiations surrounding it.

Arizona does have plenty of needs to address on the defensive side of the ball, specifically pass rush. Still, it goes without saying that it would be worth trading out of the top-five in favor of accumulating more draft capital.
