The Cardinals hold the No. 3 overall pick in the NFL Draft this upcoming April, and it is safe to say that the team will either be selecting an offensive lineman or the top defensive player available.

With the signing of Tyler Allgeier and Isaac Seumalo, general manager Monti Ossenfort addressed the most important needs on the offensive side of the ball, freeing up the ability to do whatever he desires with that top-three pick.

Despite also signing Gardner Minshew to a one-year contract and adding competition for Jacoby Brissett, who returns for his second year with the team, the option to draft a quarterback out of the 2026 crop is by no means off the table.

In fact, if the opportunity presents itself, Ossenfort could trade back into the first round to select Ty Simpson out of Alabama.

Damian Person of Bleacher Report gave a ton of praise to Simpson, who, in all likelihood, will be the second quarterback off the board.

“His dropbacks are urgent and have great cadence. Simpson is loaded and ready to throw at the apex of his drop.”

“He utilizes eye manipulation to either hold defenders in place or displace them, creating open voids for his targets.”

“Simpson is a highly accurate quarterback who fits passes between defenders with immense touch.”

Could the Cardinals get nifty and trade back into round one to select their hopeful quarterback of the future, or will they wait another season in hopes of a stronger class at the position? 2026’s quarterback class is definitely one of the weaker ones, with Fernando Mendoza and Simpson really being the only ones worthy of a first-round selection

It would be interesting to see Ossenfort make a job-saving move.
