Cardinals Believed To Be Best Fit For Top Running Back Prospect

Love to the Cardinals would certainly be a choice considering the moves already made by Ossenfort and the front office.

When the clock hit zero in Week 18, it was abundantly clear that the Arizona Cardinals were missing something important. Ending the season with only three wins is never fun, especially when you see your offense put up solid numbers in the passing game.

What we’re getting at is that Arizona’s biggest need was at running back, as the unit as a whole didn’t provide much of a boost. Granted, the team saw three season-ending injuries at the position, with James Conner, Trey Benson, and Bam Knight all hitting injured reserve.

General manager Monti Ossenfort made it a priority to address running back over the offseason, and he did so by making a pair of moves. The first one was restructuring James Conners’ contract, freeing up $4.83 million.

The second move made was signing former Atlanta Falcons backup, Tyler Allgeier, to a two-year deal worth $12.25 million.

However, it feels as if Ossenfort may not be done in the running back department, as Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton predicts the Cardinals to add one more in the NFL Draft.

“Love would provide a major boost for an offense that finished with the second-fewest rushing yards last year. He could rack up yards running behind tackle Paris Johnson Jr. and guard Isaac Seumalo on the left side.” — Moe Moton

Yes, Moton believes that the Cardinals are still the best fit for Notre Dame standout Jeremiyah Love, who finished third in Heisman Trophy voting this past season.

Adding Love would make Arizona’s running back room one of the strongest in terms of depth, and he would be the guy headlining it.

It will be interesting to see if the Love rumors actually begin to heat up.
