Cardinals Could Gain From NFC North Team's Cap Casualty

If Kelly becomes a free agent, Arizona should be all over him.

Offensive line is a top need for the Cardinals, as they are losing guys due to age and lack of production. It is one of their many needs in need of adjustments, as there are plenty of holes in the unit.

Paris Johnson Jr. anchors the offensive line, and he is in search of a contract extension. But other than him, the Cardinals don’t really have that strong a unit as a whole, one that could use an addition or two.

Arizona already holds onto the No. 3 overall pick in April’s draft, which they could use on Miami’s Francis Mauigoa or Utah’s Spencer Fano. But that is not a guarantee, and there is a chance that general manager Monti Ossenfort trades the pick.

The Cardinals will surely make a signing during free agency, and while there may not be a ton of signature players available, they will just have to play the waiting game. Arizona could benefit from signing a player who is cut due to cap constraints.

We have one guy in mind who should be a hot commodity.

Cardinals Could Sign Ryan Kelly If Cut By Vikings

“Every offseason, teams move on from players. Absorbing a dead cap charge is no simple matter (the cash is still paid by ownership), but it is a route that can lead to more cap versatility…Parting with center Ryan Kelly would open up more than $8 million.”

Ryan Kelly sured up the middle of the offensive line, and that is something that the Cardinals desperately need, as they weren’t able to get the running game going.

Adding Kelly would not only fill that hole, but he wouldn’t command a ton of money either, so the Cardinals could spend on other areas of the roster as well.
