While they are yet to make an official decision about Kyler Murray’s future, it doesn’t mean that Arizona isn’t surveying other options at the same time. While we wouldn’t say it's the biggest need, the quarterback is by far the biggest question mark on the roster.

Murray seems to be out, and Jacoby Brissett won’t be the long-term answer at the position. This means that whoever the next signal-caller is will likely be an out-of-house signing.

The quarterback draft class in 2026 is very weak, with Fernando Mendoza being the only notable prospect in the first round. However, the free agency class has some potential. Headlined by Daniel Jones, Malik Willis, and now Kirk Cousins, it would not be a surprise if Monti Ossenfort were to select from that crop.

Arizona could also land on making a trade for someone, and one backup in particular has started to make waves in the NFL rumors.

Cardinals Could Trade For Chicago’s Tyson Bagent

An undrafted free agent in 2023 who was signed by the Chicago Bears. Tyson Bagent played his college ball at Division II Shepherd University, and he was brought in to back up at the time Justin Fields.

However, in his rookie year, Bagent was tossed into action after Fields went down with a dislocated thumb. In four games, Bagent threw for 859 yards and three touchdowns with six interceptions. Not the best numbers, but serviceable enough to hold onto a 2–2 record.

Bagent signed a two-year, $10 million extension with the Bears in August 2025, but it is not far-fetched to believe that he could be moved if the right offer presents itself.

With Arizona showing a tad bit of interest, it will be intriguing to see how aggressive Ossenfort is on this.
