The Cardinals made some solid additions to their offense so far this offseason, adding Tyler Allgeier to the running back room along with Kendrick Bourne to sure up their wide receiver depth.
Solid moves to say the least, but Arizona has seen a few losses on the defensive side of the ball, as Jalen Thompson signed a three-year, $33 million contract with the Dallas Cowboys. He exits a secondary unit that saw plenty of young talent see the field, but also spent time on the sideline with injury.
While the defense has potential, it is incredibly young and needs veteran leadership to help it thrive. That’s why the most recent development out of Glendale is not one fans would like to hear, as one of the key leaders on defense is hinting that he might be out the door in the near future.

It was reported on Thursday that Cardinals edge rusher Josh Sweat requested a trade and that he has a fair share of suitors. Some teams to name include the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles, whom he played for before signing a four-year contract worth $76.4 million with Arizona during the 2025 offseason.
In his first season with the Cardinals, Sweat started in all 17 games and posted 12.5 sacks. He was one of the lone bright spots on a defense that saw injury and contributed to a three-win season.
It would really be a shame to see a player of Sweat’s caliber go, as he is the nucleus of a defense that has improved mightily from years past.
