It’s combine weekend in the NFL, and while most coaches and executives are in Indianapolis, it is never too early to look ahead to the next big benchmark in the offseason. That is free agency, and it is safe to say that Arizona will be incredibly busy during that period.
With that being said, the Cardinals have plenty of needs to address, with the biggest one being quarterback. Will the team trade or release Kyler Murray before March 15? The other necessities include running back, offensive line, and the occasional holes on defense.
ESPN predicts the Cardinals to make one splash in particular this cycle, and it would give whoever the next signal caller a guarantee, and that is protection.

Braden Smith Projected To Sign With Cardinals
A column written by Aaron Schatz, he said the following about Smith and the Cardinals' specific needs.
“Here's the team with the biggest need for a right tackle, as both Jonah Williams and Kelvin Beachum were low in pass block win rate last season and are going to be free agents. Smith has been steady for the Colts, ranking 34th out of 68 qualifying players in pass block win rate last season (90.6%).”
Smith will be due a big payday; a contract of four years with $15 million AAV would suffice. He, alongside Paris Johnson Jr. and Kelvin Beachum, would clog up opposing pass-rushing units.
There will be interesting decisions ahead for the front office as they look to surround their next quarterback with protection, while also trying to avoid overpaying for guys.
Arizona holds onto the No. 3 overall pick, which they could use on Francis Mauigoa or Spencer Fano to address the line. But signing Smith wouldn’t hurt either.
