The NFL world was shocked on Monday when the Buffalo Bills opted to fire head coach Sean McDermott after the team’s 33–30 loss in the AFC Divisional Round to the Denver Broncos.
McDermott, 51, had been Buffalo’s coach since 2017 and had made the postseason in eight of those seasons. However, he was never able to advance to the Super Bowl, even with his superhuman quarterback, Josh Allen.
The Bills will be cleaning house, and that means all the assistants that came along with McDermott will also be looking for new places. Teams have already been interviewing his assistants, including the Cardinals, who have an interview set in place for the mastermind behind one of the league’s most prolific offenses.

Cardinals plan to interview Bills’ OC Joe Brady
Joe Brady took over the reins as offensive coordinator when the team fired Ken Dorsey in 2023, where an interim role turned into a full-time one for the 36-year-old.
In 2025, the Bills ranked 4th in total yards per game, 4th in points per game, 1st in rushing offense, and 15th in passing offense.
The Bills' offense obviously had the one and only Josh Allen, but also the legs of James Cook in the backfield. Now, couple that with a receiving core of Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, and Curtis Samuel. It’s a solid group, but just imagine what Joe Brady could do with the skill group in Arizona.
The big three of Trey McBride, Michael Wilson, Marvin Harrison Jr., and the No. 3 overall pick in April’s draft to spend on potentially another skill position. All of a sudden, you’re forming a very promising young group.
The only question that lingers, and may draw candidates like Brady away, is who will be the quarterback next year.
That is what needs to be figured out.
