Kyler Murray officially has a new home.

After months of speculation surrounding whether or not the Cardinals would release their seven-year quarterback, the team officially decided to part ways with him last week.

After failing to find a trade partner, Arizona chose to release the dual-threat quarterback and allow him to hit the open market. From there, more rumors began to swirl around where he would end up.

Teams like the Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, and Minnesota Vikings all came to mind, but nothing crazy came of it.

Until today.

The former Cardinals quarterback was flown into the Twin Cities for his first interview with another NFL team, which so happened to be the Minnesota Vikings.

After a successful interview, the Vikings officially signed Murray to a one-year deal, and will only be paying $1.3 million of the $36.8 million he is owed for 2026. That’s only 3.5% of the total salary, and an absolute steal for them.

Murray only appeared in five games for the Cardinals in 2025 after suffering a right-foot injury in the team’s Week 5 loss to the Tennessee Titans. After solid play from backup Jacoby Brissett, the team chose to ride with him for the remainder of the season and ultimately put Murray out of the starting job.

In the seven years with Murray under center, the Cardinals only made the postseason once, and they lost in blowout fashion to the Los Angeles Rams 34–11 in 2021.

A solid addition for the Vikings, but it will be interesting to see what Arizona does to counter that.
