We are now past the 24-hour mark since the Cardinals chose to hire Mike LaFleur as their next head coach. While Arizona may have been the final head coaching vacancy to be filled, it does not mean that the team is bad.
Mike LaFleur comes from the Los Angeles Rams, where he served as their offensive coordinator. On top of that, he comes from a division rival, which means he has seen the Cardinals many times over the years.
The fact that he has played for the Cardinals in the past and has seen the talent on the roster definitely played a role in his decision. LaFleur left a quote for Cardinals fans, and it is safe to say that he is ready to embrace this roster.
“Having competed against them in the NFC so many times in recent years, I know the type of talent and toughness the team has and cannot wait to get to Arizona to hit the ground running.”

When he says there is talent and toughness, he is spot on. Arizona saw so many injuries to key players on their defense in 2025. Walter Nolen III, Budda Baker, Mack Wilson Sr., and Will Johnson are some examples.
There is definitely talent on the roster, especially on offense. We saw Michael Wilson blossom into a 1,000-yard wide receiver, and that corresponded with the play of Trey McBride, who is the best tight end in the league.
LaFleur’s biggest challenge? Getting Marvin Harrison Jr. going, the 23-year-old, is due for a breakout campaign after the team selected him at No. 4 overall in 2024.
LaFleur gave the roster praise, not its time for it to translate on the field. Exciting times in Arizona.
