The biggest part of the NFL free agency frenzy is passed, but it won't stop until the start of the season. There could even be a couple of big signings once the NFL draft is over. We are now in this long drought when it comes to getting closer to the season. The draft is so close, yet so far away. Then once the draft is completed, offseason programs start for the rookies and than OTAs come into play. Once mandatory training camp arrives, then we are very close to the start of the new season.
During this time, newly signed players who signed contracts with new teams are in the process of getting setup and ready to take their talents to another team. They will need to adjust to their new lives and meet their new teammates.
For the Arizona Cardinals, they have not been strangers within free agency, but they are also being careful with how they are spending money. Their two biggest contracts that they have offered so far have been defensive tackle Justin Jones (3 years, $31 million) and offensive tackle Jonah Williams ( 2 years, $30 million). According to overthecap.com, Arizona has over $29 million left to use (which ranks 7th in the league).
While they have not been super aggressive in free agency, there are other teams that have given contracts to free agents that have a lot of risk, or that they have not proven to be a great player up to this point.
