The Arizona Cardinals released their injury report from Thursday’s practice, and while a few of the non-participants from yesterday suited up today, a few notable players on offense may not be ready for Sunday’s game.
For the second straight day, wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. (heel) did not participate in practice and is in danger of missing his second consecutive game. Unfortunately, this has been a trend for Harrison as of late; the 23-year-old unexpectedly missed the team’s Week 11/12 games after undergoing an appendectomy.
With the Cardinals already eliminated from playoff contention, it may be wise for head coach Jonathan Gannon to consider shutting the team’s No. 1 wide receiver down for the year to keep him healthy long term.
Arizona has seen the emergence of Michael Wilson during Harrison’s absence, so why not let the former first-round pick rest for the remainder of the season and give Wilson a larger sample size as the No. 1 option?
The Cardinals signed NFL veteran Steven Sims to their practice squad on Tuesday, a move to combat the injury to Greg Dortch, who was placed on injured reserve. But as of now, it will be Michael Wilson, Andre Baccellia, and Trent Sherfield Sr., who was recently promoted to the active roster in a corresponding move, leading the way.
A new injury that popped up is third-year offensive lineman Paris Johnson Jr., who didn’t practice on Wednesday or Thursday. The 24-year-old is dealing with a knee injury that he suffered in the team’s 45–17 blowout loss at home to the Los Angeles Rams.
In 2025, Johnson has been by far the team’s best offensive linemen, serving as the left tackle and protecting quarterback Jacoby Brissett’s blindside. If Johnson is unable to practice tomorrow, we should not expect him to be active for the game on Sunday.
Kelvin Beachum would be in line to start at left tackle if Johnson is unable to go. The 14-year NFL veteran normally starts at right tackle but will have to move over to the other side of the line.
The Cardinals losing arguably their top two players on offense would hurt big time, but this has been a common occurrence over the course of the season. It will be interesting to see how Gannon gameplans for Sunday with both Harrison and Johnson likely inactive.
We will find out more about the status of the two during Friday’s practice.
