NFC West Update

I'm not sure who in the division is more delusional, Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll or San Francisco 49'ers Mike Singletary.  I guess right now you have to continue to give it to Singletary.

Singletary, after his team's 23-20 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday to drop them to 1-6 overall, said he believe his team can still make the playoffs.  Huh?  Really?  If you believe that I have ocean front property in Yuma, AZ I can sell you too.  It was one thing for delusional owner Jed York to proclaim they were making the playoffs after going 1-5, but now there are rumbling that even the ownership is questioning the coaching after the Panthers loss.  Good call.

At least Pete Carroll seems to be sane and not make any ridiculous comments such as making the playoffs, even at 4-2 after defeating the Arizona Cardinals 22-10 on Sunday.  However, the way he runs around that sideline, you'd think he was a member of the cheerleading squad.  I hope someone has told him he is no longer the coach of the USC Trojans!  I do like the passion, but whoelse in NFL does that?  What can I say, they are 4-2 and in first place.  Can't argue with that.

St. Louis is going to be the tough luck team this season and I say that given they have already tripled their win total of a year ago.  That being said, after losing to the Tampa Bay Bucs 18-17 with 10 seconds left on Sunday, does anyone else think they should be 6-1.  They lost at home to Arizona in week one 17-13, but dropped a couple of interception opportunities.  They lost by two points to the Oakland Raiders 16-14.  Then they lost to the Bucs on Sunday by a point.  Baby steps, but this team will most likely start converting those close games into wins soon.

The Cards have their work cut out for them.  The division will be a dogfight, but the Cards and Hawks still seem to have the upper hand.  Cards and Hawks meet again in three weeks in Arizona.  Rams still have to come to Arizona and make a trip to Seattle, a team they have defeated already 20-3.
