The Arizona Cardinals saw some really good performances Saturday night against the San Diego Chargers despite the 22-19 loss

The Arizona Cardinals found themselves some players who are fighting for spots on the team and some who have spots locked up that made a huge impact in the game against the San Diego Chargers Saturday night.

Here are the five players that made the biggest positive impacts on Saturday night.  It is nice to see the impacts from both sides of the ball.

 J.J. Nelson

Nelson, a rookie receiver from the University of Alabama-Birmingham, is showing just why the Cardinals drafted him.  I’ve mentioned a couple of times during this training camp just how fast he is.  Yes, we all know how fast he ran his 40-yard at the Scouting Combine at 4.28 seconds.  He is also very fast off the line of scrimmage.

Saturday night though he showed just why the Cardinals will be better with him on the field than off.  In what appeared to be a routine play ended up in a 57-yard bomb from quarterback Carson Palmer to Nelson.  After the game, both mentioned how they thought Palmer overthrew Nelson.  It was the only catch he made on Saturday night.

However Palmer said he just turned on the after burner all of a sudden during the route and was able to catch up to the ball.  Some even mentioned how it was thought that Nelson overran it a bit.  Originally I thought it was underthrown.  No, Nelson is just that fast.  Oh, and he has some really great hands as well. That catch may have been his only one of the night but he contributed on special teams as well.
