Predictions: Arizona Cardinals QB could be headed to hall
By Scott Allen
Don Coryell
“Air Coryell” he was called. Back then in the 1970’s and 1980’s he loved airing it out as coach of the St. Louis Cardinals and the San Diego Chargers. It was with the Chargers I fell in love with his style of play.
What is interesting his style was a put-off for many. Lots of NFL fans loved the grind it out run game. However Coryell was a hit with his style in San Diego. If I had Dan Fouts as my quarterback, I’d do the same thing. Coryell worked it to a T though. He will be posthumously selected. He passed away in 2010.
Ken Stabler
Recently diagnosed with CTE, Stabler died in 2015. However Stabler should have no problem getting into the Hall as a Senior nominee. Stabler won five straight AFC titles from 1973-1977 with the Oakland Raiders. His last five seasons in the NFL were with the Houston Oilers and the New Orleans Saints.
Eddie Debartolo
DeBartolo, formerly with the San Francisco 49ers, won five Super Bowls in 23 seasons with them. Again, while not a 49ers fan myself you have to respect the way he handled the game. The 49’ers stronghold on the NFL is one of the best ever seen. Despite his off the field issues, he brought a lot to a league that was quite frankly still struggling to gain a huge audience nationwide.
