Drew Stanton, QB

Will Stanton ask for too much money?  That is my biggest fear.  He knows how valuable he is as a backup to Palmer.  He has proven that over the last three seasons.  He went 5-3 in eight starts in place of Palmer in 2014.  Luckily he didn’t have to be called on to start any game in 2015 but he did mop up a few laughers in the end.

Stanton was originally signed to be a starter in 2013 before the Cardinals traded for Palmer.  Stanton likely is thinking he can start for someone in this league and if someone comes around with enough money and a promise to at least compete for the starting quarterback spot, I think he’ll bolt.  However I can’t see the Cardinals letting him go.  I just worry about overpaying a backup quarterback.  As we learned in 2014 though, a decent backup quarterback is a true necessity.

Decision: Keep him
