5. David Johnson

You can ask yourself how Johnson makes this list with guys like Andre Ellington, Chris Johnson, and Kerwynn Williams on the roster.  While those guys are more than capable to handle things are they themselves to be trusted to go through a whole season healthy?

David Johnson’s versatility being able to run with the ball as a running back, catch the ball as a receiver, and have the ability to return kickoffs, is something the Cardinals can’t lose.

Ellington can’t be trusted to be a full-time back.  That experiment was attempted and failed. Ellington can definitely run and catch the ball too.  He can’t stay healthy long enough though to be able to be the difference maker Johnson can.

Looking at Chris Johnson you can say just about the same thing.  With CJ though he is not as much of a threat in the passing game and that’s where you lose a little.

Williams is a nice back. I love having him on the roster.  However when he was left as the best available option at the end of the 2014 season, we saw how that turned out.
