5. Cardinals at Denver Broncos, Thursday August 31st

Listen, I get it.  The game needs to be played.  Most teams sit all of their regulars out in the last preseason game unless said player is rehabbing or didn’t get a chance to play much in the previous weeks.

Many consider this game to be a throw-away game.  I certainly understand the sentiment but please try telling that to the few guys that are still battling for spots on the team.

Those guys would play 20 of these games if that’s what it took to make the squad.  As is with every year, there are guys whose performances in the final preseason game gets them onto the 53-man roster initially at least.

All of that being said, it will be the least exciting of the five games.  If any starter plays, its for a series and nothing more for the most part.

This game highlights the last opportunity you may see the backup quarterback for the Cardinals unless Carson Palmer is injured.  Whoever plays may not even make the final 53.  From that standpoint, there should be at least some interest.
