The Bad:

Offensive backups

There were a few guys who didn’t help themselves on Saturday night.  One of them was running back Kerwynn Williams.

With as many as five players fighting for possibly just three spots, Williams had a bad fumble in the first-half against the Raiders.  He turned and lost the football right into the Raiders hands.  It was recovered by Raiders linebacker Marquel Lee.

Another guy who didn’t help himself was quarterback Blaine Gabbert.  The statistics show he did go 5-9 for 53-yards.  He did not throw any touchdowns.  He also was not picked off.

What Gabbert did though was what he is known for, taking a lot of sacks.  He was sacked four times on Saturday night for a total loss of 26-yards.

Some of that can be attributed to poor protection by the backups on the offensive line.  There were a couple of times that Gabbert could have rid of the ball though to avoid a sack.

While Drew Stanton played well going 11-15 for 112-yards and a touchdown, Gabbert failed to build on his good performance in preseason week one against the Dallas Cowboys.
