Key injuries

The Cardinals have ruled out receiver John Brown and left tackle D.J. Humphries.  Brown has an injured quad officially.  He has not been able to run for a couple of weeks.  Until he is able to do so, he will not participate in practice or games.

Humphries injured himself in week one against the Detroit Lions early on.  At that time it was determined he would be out at least a week or two, maybe even more.  This will be the second week of his absence.

Guard Mike Iupati and receiver J.J. Nelson are both questionable.  Both are vital parts to the Cardinals having an efficient offense.  Iupati missed last week’s game and it showed in the run game.

For the Cowboys, they have ruled out three players.  Cornerbacks Nolan Carroll (concussion) and Chidobe Awuzie (hamstring) and linebacker Anthony Hitchens (knee) will not play Monday night. After being limited the first two days of practice this week, cornerback Orlando Scandrick practiced in full on Saturday.

Prediction

With the Cowboys coming off a blowout loss on the road at the Denver Broncos, they will come into Arizona with a bit of a chip on their shoulder most likely.  Their effort was questioned.  Don;t expect a lackluster effort Monday night against the Cardinals.

The Cardinals need their key players to play.  If they lose Nelson on offense, they may have a difficult time throwing the ball.  Nelson was a huge reason why the Cardinals won last week in Indianapolis.

The running game will need to be established on offense and the Cardinals will need to shut down quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliot to be successful on Monday.  If either one or both are able to move the ball, the Cardinals could be in trouble.

It’s hard to gauge either team fully right now this early in the season.  For now, we’ll predict a victory for the home team.
