Use the tight ends

Four of Palmer’s completions on Sunday were to his tight ends.  They didn’t need much more than that with the way the game was playing out.

However one of those receptions was to Troy Niklas.  Niklas caught his first touchdown of the season and just the third of his career.  His only other two touchdowns came in the same game at Cleveland in 2015.

The Cardinals also used Jermaine Gresham.  They got the ball to him twice.  Gresham did hurt the team with a penalty but he wasn’t the only one, so it can slide.

The fact is Palmer was looking for his tight ends on Sunday, which is a departure from the norm. It means Palmer is looking all over the field.  He isn’t settling for his first reads.

Some plays may have been designed for the tight ends but whatever the case, it was fun to see. Niklas and Gresham and even Ifeanyi Momah will be blockers first but if they can break open, there is no reason why they can’t have high production games.
